Accessibility
A website everyone can use.
Last updated October 2026
Many of the families we serve are living with the effects of serious illness. We want every parent, survivor, donor and volunteer to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, captions or other assistive technology.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We test the site with automated checks on every page, keyboard-only use, screen reader semantics, zoom up to 400% and small screens.
What we have built in
- A “Skip to content” link, clear headings and landmarks, and visible keyboard focus.
- Text and controls with strong color contrast, and layouts that reflow on small screens and when text is enlarged.
- Forms with labels, plain-language hints and error messages that are announced to screen readers.
- A grant application split into short steps that saves your progress in your browser tab, with no time limit.
- Respect for your device’s reduced motion setting, plus a “Pause animations” button in the footer that stops animations.
- Descriptive text for meaningful images, and decorative images hidden from screen readers.
- Transcripts for event speeches, and a written description of the Unstoppable Grant film, which has music and on-screen text.
Known limitations
- Donations are processed on Zeffy, and event videos play from YouTube. We choose providers that work to be accessible, but we do not control those pages.
- Captions on YouTube videos are generated by YouTube and may contain errors. Each speech has a transcript underneath it instead.
- Downloadable documents from partners, such as sponsor or event flyers, may not be fully accessible.
Tell us about a barrier
If anything on this site is hard to use, or you need information in another format, please tell us. We will reply within five business days and work with you to provide what you need, including help applying for a grant or making a gift by phone.
