Our Impact
In the three years since its founding, the Navis Foundation has raised over $300,000 for pediatric cancer research. This money has been shared between Dr. Michael Ortiz at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, whose research focuses on rare pediatric tumors and cancers, and the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, which has been funding groundbreaking research to eradicate childhood cancer for more than 50 years.
The Navis Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was established in 2023 after the founders experienced the firsthand effects of pediatric cancer. Our fundraising efforts support the research of physicians at renowned facilities across the country.
We are committed to raising awareness, finding less toxic treatments, and ultimately eradicating pediatric cancer. Together we can drive the dream of hope today for a better tomorrow.
All proceeds are split between Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
The Challenge
Cancer is the number one killer by disease of children in the U.S. today yet only 4% of federal funding for cancer research is devoted to pediatric cancer. While more than 200 drugs are approved for use on adult cancers, there are a total of 35 approved for children. We work to raise money to close that gap so kids with cancer get the same kind of cutting-edge therapies and drugs as adults.
What is Wilms’ Tumor?
Wilms’ tumor, also known as nephroblastoma, is the most common type of kidney cancer in children, accounting for about 6% of all childhood cancers. It typically affects children under the age of 5, with the average age of diagnosis being around 2 to 3 years old.
